April/May Loves and Inspiration

With summer right around the corner, I wanted to make a hopefully quick, yet delightful post on what I've been loving and products that have been working for me for the months of April and May. I will review them each and hopefully continue to post more outfit of the days as summer to me means more beautiful clothes and outfits to post up.

Paul Mitchell Spray Wax:
Been absolutely loving this spray wax when I put my hair up for maximum texture, shine, and a bit of hold. Definitely gives that piecey, textured look to the hair with a polished shine. The only downside to this product is that it does give off a sticky feel as it is a texturizing product, but other than that, it is a fabulous wax to add texture to otherwise freshly-washed hair.

L'Oreal Infallible Makeup Extender Setting Spray:
This little bottle has done the trick to help extend the wear of my makeup, with whatever foundation I use. This spray helps to add a bit of a dewy finish to the skin while maintaining a fresh look to makeup. It does not make me look even more oily in hot weather and prolongs the wear of foundation, concealer, and even my setting powder throughout the day. Although a bit on the pricey side, it does stand up to comparison with the Urban Decay Setting Spray which I have also tried and loved.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation (Medium Sand) and Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation (330 Natural Tan):
These two foundations are probably my most loved and therefore, most used foundations out of my whole collection. They both deliver outstanding coverage with only a tiny dab of each and have beautiful staying power. Although I don't believe they both last as long as they are said to, they both do tend to fade in a glowy way, meaning, they don't oxidize on me, but they seem to give a bit of a sheen that in no way looks oily. I would not say that the Tarte foundation is full coverage, but the coverage is definitely buildable to the point that it can be a full coverage look. Both of these foundations do the trick to even out my skintone, blur acne scarring, and both match my skin color perfectly. Highly recommend!!

Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector:
This product is probably my most loved and in my opinion, holy grail status for me. Because I have super duper oily skin, it has been quite difficult to find any product or products to help combat or reduce the oiliness to a point where I've been satisfied with my makeup at the end of the day. I've tried different primers that were high-end and low end, anti-shine products of all sorts, and the trusty oil-blotting sheets which can sometimes be awkward for me to use when on the run or when quite busy. This product has worked wonders for me. Although the hefty price on this bad boy, I can definitely say I can fork up the money for a back up. Not only is the texture of this product the perfect consistency as it feels smooth and velvety to the touch, once warmed up with your fingers, you dab it on the oily areas of the face and you instantly see the shine gone and feel the skin being mattified. I use this both as a primer before my foundation and as a touch up product. It hasn't broken me out and a little does go a long way. It has made my foundation and all of my makeup still look beautiful and fresh at the end of the day and I don't have to deal with seeing an oily mess when I look in the mirror. I can't rave about this product enough and I highly highly recommend it.

L'Oreal Visible Lift Blur Blush:
This little guy has been a well loved favorite of mine because it's so easy and effortless to use and gives off that true glow from within color. I have the peachy shade and the color is divine and the texture is just incredible. It sort of feels like a gel that melts into the skin when applied. The color does last on my oily skin which is a plus and a little goes a long way with this product as well. Only con is that it is a little bit pricey for a drugstore product, but the product and color payoff is worth the price.

BeautyBlender:
I love love love this little sponge!! I am so late on this bandwagon, but this sponge has made the application of my foundation go by so much quicker and more effective. My foundation applied more smoothly and evenly and I get the coverage I want as well. I dampen this sponge well before use and it does sheer out whatever foundation I use, but it takes away the cakey look that sometimes I get with the basic application of a brush. I haven't used it with blush or other products yet, but it has been working beautifully just with foundation alone and can see why many rave about this little sponge so much despite the price and supposed dupes out there.

Coastal Scents Hot Pot Shadows/Palette:
These eyeshadows are absolutely great. Not only is the price just incredible, but you get amazing color pay off and tons of product. You only need a dab of each to get a load of color on your brush as they are very pigmented. I've been digging into the different colors as you can build your own palette as I have done in the above pictures and I can say that all shadows, whether they be the opaque, sheen, or matte shadows, they all have strong pigmentation with little fall out.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer:
This highlighter is my most loved and used highlighter to this date. It gives a beautiful sheen to the cheekbones or wherever applied and almost gives off that "wet-look" when applied with a heavier hand. I use this product on my cheekbones, bridge of my nose, cupid's bow, and a little on the forehead and it looks stunning not only in real-life, but in photography. Possibly the best highlighter I've tried as it is my go-to product for highlighting and accentuating areas of the face.

As far as inspiration or a few other things I've been loving is silver hair or hair that is a bit multi-dimensional. I'm always changing my mind when it comes to my hair and not sure if I want to keep letting it grow out or keep it short, but I do want to play around with color again and I've been loving silver hair.

And finally, some of my favorite music from some of my favorite artists Gareth Emery and Christina Novelli, which I believe deserve more ears...to me, it's relaxing music for the summer...
